Monday 30 June 2014

To start off the day we did the roll and found out that Mrs. Robinson is our reliever teacher. Then we had to do a measurement math sheet and when other people where finishing some people were finishing off other work like mihi and their letters.


After morning tea we went to the library to issue and renew books. Then we had a read of our books that we got from the library, then after we read our books we read two poems by Thomas Vautor and Walter de la mare. Then we got some time to finish work FIFA World Cup project, our Mihi's and our. Letters. Then it was lunch time. 

After lunch we had the roll and got Mrs. Roberts back:) and then we finished off left over work.After a long time of working we got some notices for ski camp.

Friday 27th June

   Today we had Ms.Olds and to start the day we did the roll then the news centre. After the news centre we went to recorders until 9:30. Then we checked who did their homework or not. We also looked at some FIFA World Cup presentations, then it was morning tea.

After morning tea we did buddy reading until 11:00. then the people in Kapa Haka went to the hall everyone else finished work and worked on there initials work while they drank their milk.  I was at Kapa Haka.

After lunch we did some more of finishing work and got the stuff ready for our item (as you will find out later in this blog). Then we went to assembly at 2:30 and did our class item which was about our caligrams, war poams, CD covers and Perrin did his initial art then we went home.

Thursday 26th June

To start the day we did jump-jam and then did the roll. In the roll we said objects that Mrs.Roberts would hold up in and counted from 23 all in . After the roll we did the bus board, then did the news centre to see what's happening in the school then we did two rounds of Māori bingo. Then we got stuck into maths talking about the six and times tables. Then we did some measuring maths for a while then it was morning tea.

After morning tea we looked at a poem. 
The poem is about a man who go's fishing (there will be a picture at the bottom of the page) and the author is John Walcot. John was born 1738 and died 1819. So we had a talk about what the structure of the poem is based on, what it means and what the poem is about. Also we had a talk about how he organised the writing and how it was put together if you want to know more about John Walcot copy the link at the bottom of this paragraph and paste it in the search bar. Then we looked at the rhyme patterns in this poem and the rhythm of to the fish in the brook. We had a go looking at how the rhyme and the rhythm go together in the poem and the sylables in it. Then we had a look at Diamanté poems and looked at the patterns in the poems below. Then we made our own poems on the subject of war using the words from the sheet that we did yesterday for a competition. Then it was lunch.

After lunch we did the roll then we got stuck into doing our letter art which is basically we drew the first letter of our names then (making sure it was the right size) Mrs.Roberts cut it out and we made it 3D. Then we read the book the cay until the bell rang at 3:00.

Wednesday 25th June

To start the day we did Jump-jam then we did the roll and counted from 62, 
said I te aha koe? (What did you do?) kei te aha koe? (What is this object?)
then we did the bus board and news centre. After we did that we looked at 
Mrs.Roberts's Mihi and talked about Mihi's and started on our own Mihi's.
 Then it was morning tea
 
After morning tea we did silent reading for about half and hour then we talked 
about the work that we did yesterday on the books on WW1.  We wrote down on 
the board what we had to say from our sheets. Then we looked at a old poem by John Walcot about fishing then it was lunch.

 After lunch we started finishing our work and starting new work. After the work at 10  past 2 we packed up and had a bit of a clean up and went to watch a drama show that some of other kids put together. Here are some pictures. Then we read more of our book the Cay then it was bell time.

Wednesday the 11th of June

When the bell rang we come to sit down on the mat to call the roll. After the roll we did some work about Vincent Van Gogh. After we learnt about Vincent Van Gogh we did a maths game. The math game was about times tables here is an example if i rolled a 6 and 1 I would draw six lines across or down. 


After we finished the maths game the bell rang for morning tea. After morning tea we did the roll then the kappa Hakka people went of to kappa Hakka. While the kappa Hakka people were at practice we finished of some work until the bell rang for lunch time. After lunch mrs. Roberts called the roll then we some work with oil pastels. If you are wondering what we did with the oil pastels we were drawing Vincent Van Goghs dark castle.


Tuesday 24th june

First we did jump jam to wake us up in the morning. It was a very small class today because of all the girls at a netball tournament. In the roll we did counting in Te reo from 35, Also we did I te aha koe? which simply means what are you doing? We also did Kei te aha tenei? which means what is this object? Then we did the bus board and news centre to see what's happening today in the school. Then after the roll we did more Te reo. We played a game of Te reo bingo then it was morning tea.

After morning tea we did some silent reading with our own books from the library and from home, and drank our milk. It was very quiet apart from the sound of milk slurping and guzzling. We read our books for about half-an-hour. Then we did some work on our football World Cup presentations and we went to the hall and did folk dancing then it was lunch.

After lunch we did the roll then we did art we were finishing of our CD covers,
Other people were doing their art project. Then the girls came back from the netball tournament and they came 9th in it. Also we had a bit of a gossip at the end of the day.

Monday 23rd June

We started of the day doing jump jam. Then we did a basic facts test sheet to see if we could beat our high score and to see if we improved. 
Then Mrs.Roberts talked to us about our wrist to foot survey to see why we need to measure more people than just your group. 

This is a picture of when Mrs.Roberts was talking to us about different size feet because some people got confused with centimetres and millimetres in measurement because that is our topic in maths. Then it was morning tea.
After morning tea we went to the library and drank our milk after we drank our milk we: returned, issued and reserved the books that we got out the week before.
 After that we went back to class and Mrs.Roberts talked to us about the poem contest and we looked at some WW1 books and read about the Great WW1. Mrs.Roberts split us into groups, and gave the groups a book each to read and fill out different sections. And the sections were: sight,hearing,smell,taste,touch,feel and interesting worlds. After the books we went to solo assembly which was Tuatara doing their item about empathy.After solo assembly it was lunch.
 

After lunch  we did the sasa and singing. After singing we did folk dancing with Kea, Paua and Kiwi and had a bit of competition. Then we read our book called the Cay. Then it was bell

Friday 20th June

In the morning we did the roll and some of us watched the FIFA World Cup 2014. Then when they came back we did recorders and had a problem with the board but anyway we played cat and mouse, falling leaves, Brazilian moon, caterpillar march and moonlit sea. Then we got to see some peoples' homework then we did the basic facts ladder and the bell rang so we went to morning tea. After morning tea we drank our milk while doing buddy reading. Then we shared more of our homework and then the lunch bell rang and we went out to lunch. After lunch we came in and did the roll then we went to whanau groups. Then we came back to class and did some art after that we went to assembly

Thursday 19th June

When the eight forty five bell rang we all went to the netball court to do some Jump jam we did two songs (like always) then we went back to class and did the roll (like always) well almost we had a small ok big problem

After the roll we did some maths sheets, after that was morning tea so we all went outside and ate when the next bell rang we came back in and drank our milk, when we finished our milk we did some 
 writing about an ice mountain. We got to see a play after we read some of our storys then the bell rang and so we all went out to lunch.

When we got back from lunch we did the roll, then we got to see 2 more plays. Then we started to read, the cay then we had to go outside for sport

Wednesday 18th June

When the first bell rang we went out to Jumpjam and did three songs far far away, super star and blame it on the boogie. When Jumpjam was over we went back to class and did some counting to 80 in Maori. then we did some measuement until we had to go to body percussion when the bell rang we had to go to morning tea. After morning tea we did some reading while we drank our milk then we did some special body percussion for the office ladies. Then we came back and did some drama then the lunch bell rang and we went to lunch. After lunch we went to singing and sang, Hey Jude and Fix You then we went back to class and did some art, when Mrs. Roberts told us to pack up we packed up very quietly so we all got a merit point and came to the mat and Mrs. Roberts read us a book called the Cay.

Tuesday 17th June


When the bell rang we went straight inside because it was too wet to do jump jam. For the roll we said e hia nga matimati? Which means what number is this and the classmate would answer E (number) nga matimati. After that we did geometry we had to do some writing about it that was: I like/dislike geometry because..., I enjoyed, I disliked, I know and what I learnt. After that if we finished early we had to find ways to make 60. After that we went down and shared our ideas. Then it was morning teatime. After morning tea we drank some milk and silent read. Then we did some plays it was lunch after that. After lunch it was time to do drama with Mrs. Brown. Here are some pics:

Monday 16 June

When the bell rang we went to the netball court and did some Jumpjam. When Jumpjam was over we went back to class and did some maths and when it was about halfway to morning tea we went to the hall and did some folk dancing. When the morning tea bell rang we cleaned up and went back to class and got our morning tea.

After morning tea we got our books and went to the library to drink our milk and get new books.
When we got back from the library we did cheese math for half an hour. Then we continued our football presentation, when the bell rang Perrin talked to us about his trip to the police college after he had finished we went out to lunch. After lunch we went to singing and did the sasa when singing was over we went back to class and look at music to make a CD cover or a record cover. At ten to three we sat down and talked about what song we did when the last bell rang we packed our bags and went home.

When the bell rang we went to the netball court and did some Jumpjam. Friday the 13th June 2014

The bell rang we didn't go to jump jam because we never do it on a Friday. We had a talk about being respectful and what that looks like. Our next lesson was recorders. 

Mackenzie played the flute. We enjoyed listening and playing. After recorders MacKenzie played "roar" whilst Amy, Kaylee and Lara signed the words. We were really impressed with their talents and for how hard they must have practised.

Our next treat was to group together and perform body percussion music. IT WAS LOUD!



Some of us went to Kapa Hakka practise.




After lunch we finished off our work and went to assembly. 5 people got awards; Wills and Olivia for being respectful, Josh and Tuteroa for super writing and Paige for fantastic reading. It was the end of week 6.








Thursday the 12th of June

The bell rang we all went to jump jam the songs were superstar and butterfly. After jump we did the roll in Maori. When we finished the roll we did some maths then the bell rang for morning tea. After morning tea we did some silent reading and then went to the mobile library bus.


When we came back from the mobile bus we finished of some work. Then at 12 o,clock we went to folk dancing then the bell rang for lunch sorry I didn't get a photo. After lunch Mrs. Roberts did the roll then Mrs. Roberts asked us a question what do respectful people do.

When we finished our work about what would a respectful person do we finished of some more work. Then at 2.30 we went to senior sport.

Tuesday the 10th of June

When the bell rang we all sat on the mat so mrs. Roberts could do the roll we some Maori. After doing some Maori we did a maths test. After the test we did some more maths then the bell rang for morning tea. After morning tea mrs. Roberts read us the rest of the hobbit. When we finished the hobbit we did some finishing off work. 



At quater past 12 we went into the hall for solo assembly then the bell rang for lunch. After lunch we all came to sit on the mat for the role. When we finished the role we went to Kiwi room to play sherades. When we came back from Kiwi room we had a vote for which book to read. The book with the most votes was The cay here is a photo.

Monday the 9th June 2014

  When the bell rang we all went to jump jam. After jump jam we did the roll and then we did some maths. After maths we did some pent ominous here is a picture.


At ten past ten we stoped to clean out our totrays then the bell rang for morning tea. After morning tea we all lined up outside our classroom to go to the library. When we arrived at the library we watched a video about matariki stars. When the video had finished we all started to read.                                              When we came back from the library mrs. Roberts handed out two sheets and we did some descriptions about a market When we finished our descriptions the bell rang for lunch. After lunch we did the roll when we finished the roll we went to singing. After singing pukeko,tui and tuatara went back to class while kiwi, paua,kea and Ruru stayed for music appreciation.

Friday 6th June

Recorder was first and after recorder we did homework (there was a lot of homework with mathletices.) 
After homework we did basic facts with art. Then iy was morning tea.

After morning tea we did finishing off owe art. Miss Olds read a pull Jennings story to us whill we did art.then it was lunch time.

After lunch we did the roll and went to whanau groups. (And yellow went on the IPads.) After whanaw groups Ruru had to pack up and pack there bag. After we packed up we played look up look down. After look up look down we went to asemberly. At assembly we did the song, the awords, then the birthdays,  asked if there was any notices, then tuatara class went up and did, there class item, and then Gracie went up and called the winers of the blue, whanau calering compitishon, after that the school gen people  went up, mathletices and class of the week.

Thursday 5th June 2014

First we did jump jam. (we did butterfly and superstar.) After jump jam we did the roll like yesterday and bus, then Jacob read out the jobs. After Mrs. Robert read out the notices we did some maths on the white boards and off the boards. ( we had to make pentominoes.) After maths we went out and had morning tea.

After morning tea we had milk and as we drank are milk Mrs. Robert read as a story about art and a person that re painted paintings and put a massive ginger cat into it. After the story we had to finish some work. After we had finished everything that we had to do we had to, get something out of a box with things to do in it. Then when we finished packing up the kapa haka people explained what they where doing. Then the bell went for lunch.

After lunch we did the roll (lots of people were here.) There was no sport so it was time to do art. After we did the art we packed up ready to go folk dancing. ( We did not go, it stank.) When we got back Mrs Roberts read us The Hobert. ( Just until the bell went so we could go home or stay.)



Wednesday 4th June 2014

First we did Jump Jam (for Jump Jam we did bodacketo ,and bogy) when we got back we did maths and we did 3d shapes. it was really fun.
After maths we looked at lost property. Then like always it was morning tea time.

Like always after morning tea we had milk it was a little bit warm. After milk Miss. Olds read us a story. It was about a little girl in a refugee camp. After the store we did some reading of are own.( green read Charley and the chocolate factory. Red read The Twits. Yellow read because of Winn-Dixie and ,blue read Danny the champion of the world.) When we finished reading we did finishing off writing. After finishing off writing. Like normal lunch time.

After lunch we did the roll. Then we did singing. Mr Sheehan took suggestions for songs. After singing we did art which we started over a month ago, involving screen printing.
