After half an hour of measurement work, we were told to stop, make sure we had our names on it, and sit in the mat after putting it away. We were then sent out to morning tea after a run through of the plan.
When we returned to the class, it was to get our bags and line up. After lining up, we headed down to the bus that was going to take us to Maidstone. When we got there we sat down in the hall, which was big and they had lots of Windows, the first thing we were greeted by was a wonderful kapa haka performence. After that was done, the student representative commities head chair student came and did a speech for us. Afterwards we were greeted by one of the teachers.
We were then put into groups of 13, and we headed off to visit the the tech-art classes. My group visited woodwork, or meterial arts. There we made a knots and crosses game, and did some sanding and some of the Maidstone students helped us with burning the crosses into the little bits of wood that would be our crosses.
After heading back we had two bands perform for us. After they performed the songs: 'mama said' and 'she's so purple', we had a winner of the speech contest they do there talk to us. She did a fabulous speech about beauty, and then we were paired of into groups again. This time, my group went to visual arts, were we had to do a right hand picture, and a left hand picture. We all agreed that our right hand was better, yet the lesson behind it was stronger.
After we came back from there we played a bit of touch, in other words capture the flag with balls instead of a flag. Afterwards the referee gave out 4 golden tickets, which they give out at Maidstone for showing the values, and they then put them in a golden box, and if they are drawn out they are given a prize.
Afterwards we headed back to the hall, were they paired three of us with a tour guide. We went around the school, and we were free to ask any questions about the classes and school area. They then chose someone in their group to give a gold card. After they gave them a gold card, they were put in the box and one was drawn out. That one was from plateau! Yay! They were then given a prize and they sat down. The food people then had to get what they had made in food, and then we went back to the bus to return back to our lovely plateau.
We then returned back to plateau, talked about intermediate a bit and then returned home.
