We started another Monday off with the roll, as usual. After everyone had said their name, we did the notices and the bus board. Only three people in Ruru on the bus today!
It is now maths time, and Mr Sheehan and Mrs Roberts are running workshops. They are very interesting. Fractions from Mrs Roberts, and columns are taught from Mr Sheehan.
We are doing a lot of maths, and this is all before morning tea. Have a look at this picture, and guess which one is correct.
Go on, guess which on it is!
Now everyone is grabbing their lunch boxes, and getting ready for morning tea.
It is after morning tea now, and Kea has come into Ruru. Mrs Roberts is reading Grandpa's Great Escape, by David Walliams. Before she starts reading, Mr Frater comes in and talks to us about our morning tea and lunch. We are now up to Chapter Fourty-two. The story really is quite funny. πΈ
Our writing for today and next week is writing a report. Today's report is about an animal. We need an INTRODUCTION, a CONCLUSION, REAL FACTS, PARAGRAPHS, and INFORMATION in our OWN WORDS. These are what you need in a report. ADJECTIVES and PUNTUATION are also important.
Mr Sheehan goes over the basics, and we are eager to start. This report is going to be interesting, and I'm looking forward to hearing the other reports, if we share. This is looking up!
"Skim read to get to the interesting information," says Mr Sheehan. "And you need interesting and factual information," he adds.
We have started our reports, and this is going well. I am doing my report about Meerkats. We start off by coming up with questions we think will be interesting. We are now doing some research, and starting our reports.
The bell has rung, and people are eating their lunch. Once the second bell has rung, people are running out to the playground.
After lunch, we go into the hall for the Asthma Show. The whole school is there.
This is the man who talks to us. His name is Chris.
Chris is going to talk to us about Asthma.
Asthma is a health problem and causes breathing problems. Asthma causes problems with your BRONCULO TUBE.
Look carfully, he is holding a swollen BRONCULO TUBE.
This is Sailor the Pufferfish.
We have to use these tools to relieve us from Asthma.
They are called the blue reliver and the spacer.
We have to breath in the reliever six times, and then wait for six minutes.
We are lucky to have Sailor dance for us!
We say good bye to Sailor, and the Chris tells us a story. People with really bad Asthma are NOT to walk or exercise. They are to be picked up and carried.
It is almost home time, and Ruru and Kea are doing Folk Dancing.
We got into pairs, but your pair had to be a boy and a girl.
It is starting to get cold outside, so we are lucky to get inside the warm Ruru Room, along with Kea.
Mrs Roberts is reading Grandpa's Great Escape again, and it is getting quite sneaky. I don't know what is going to happen next!
The final bell has rung, and everyone is crowding the cubby holes. See you tomorrow!
