Thursday 29 May

Today we did Jump Jam in the hall because it was too wet outside, we danced to "Super Star" and "How Let The Dogs Out?" Then we went back to class and Mrs. Roberts called the roll and did the same as yesterday: with every name she called she held up a picture and we would call out the Maori word for the object in the picture. After that she did the bus board and the daily notices. Then we did something with a partner about what life would be like with no electricity. People said things like, no traffic lights, no light, no computers, the wouldn't be any electricity to use things like X-Rays in hospitals, and it would be very cold because heaters wouldn't work. Then Mrs. Roberts said we had to do more making 3D shapes with play doh and match sticks and write it down in our chart as much as we can.

We did 3D shapes until morning tea, then we got our lunch boxes and sat on the mat to eat. It was too wet outside so we stayed inside to play. Some people had to go to room monitoring so they went, the rest of the people went on computers, did some drawing, or carried in with their 3D shapes. After morning tea, we sat on the mat with our milk while Mrs. Roberts read the Hobbit to us. Then we looked at some descriptions on the Interactive White Board.

We read a description called "The Storm" and we said our favourite sentence, mine was: I watch helplessly as the mighty wind picks leaves up off the ground and hurtles them into the sky like an invisible thief. I also like: The tree branches wave frantically for me to help them, but there is nothing I can do, the storm is too powerful. After that we went to the hall to do Folk Dancing. We looked at a video on how to do "Seven Jumps"

After that we went to lunch. When we got back, we read the Hobbit for a bit, then we did some art for an hour. After some art, we sat on the mat and Mrs. Roberts read the Hobbit to us for a little bit, then the bell went and we went home

Wednesday 28 May

Today we went outside to do Jump Jam when the bell rang. We danced to two songs, "The Morning Song" and "The Coconut Song" Then we went back to class and Mrs. Roberts called the roll, with every name she called, she also told us the Maori word for an object in the classroom. Then she called the Bus Board and read out the daily notices. Then we made a "Treaty" That if you trade your "DreamWorks Action Cards" from New World, then you will not change your mind and ask for it back, you will not hand out cards for free, and you will not take other people's cards without their permission.   Then we went to our tables and did some work on our 3D shapes.
We used Play Doh and match sticks to stick together and make a 3D shape, like in the picture.

We did that for about, 25 minutes, then Mrs. Roberts told us to tidy up, so we did. Then we went to Morning Tea. We came back when the bell rang and read about descriptions. Mrs. Roberts told us to go to our tables and we finished off our Batu Caves descriptions, like yesterday, and we did this until lunch time.

After lunch we came back and did some art (YAY!!!)

We did this for a while, then we tidied up and sat on the mat and Mrs. Roberts handed out some iron awards, there was heaps! Then Mrs. Roberts read the hobbit to us. After about 5 minutes the bell rang and we went home!

Tuesday 27 May

Today we went to Jump Jam in the morning as usual. Then when we got back Mrs. Roberts called the roll by asking us Kei te pehea koe? (How are you?) and we would answer Kei te pai ahau. (I am good)
Then we played Maori bingo, after that we did some geometry with 3D and 2D shapes, we also did some tessellating with shapes.

We did our math until Mrs. Roberts told us to get our morning tea and go outside. So we ate our morning tea and got back and had our milk while Mrs. Roberts read us the Hobbit. After that Mrs. Roberts said we had to Finish our Batu Caves description, write a good comment and an improvement  then we could write another description of our choice. Then, after we did that, Kea class came in to see a video on how to do  "Le Farandole" then we went to the hall and gave it a try. Then we set off to have our lunch. After lunch, we got back an Mrs. Roberts called the roll and talked about the pictures on the wall of all the famous artist and said who painted what. Then she told us to go away to our tables and do the following, calligrams, a project about Vincent Van Gogh, or start a brainstorm on our art. After that we tidied up the classroom and sat on the mat. Then the people that went to Swimming Sports came back and told us about it and what place they came in the races. Then Mrs. Roberts read
us a book about art until Erin went and rang the bell.

School Starts!

Today at school we had Miss Downing. This week is really special because its science week!!
We start off the morning by calling the roll.
Today we have lots to do so we had to do the roll quickly because we are doing science for nearly the whole day!!!
Once we had finished the roll we went to different classrooms to do some science experiments. By the time we had done three rotations it was morning tea time. After morning tea we did some more rotations.
After lunch we drunk our milk while we read some books.
Once we had finished reading we made music using everyday items in the class room.
We all saw what other people had done and how well they had worked tougher.

This is someone using the compost bin as a drum, some people even used soccer balls to make a beat. Tuteroa was the singer in his group and did such a fantastic job we all cheered for him at the end.
Then it was the end of the day, it went so fast!

Back at school!!!!

Monday and we are back at school!!!
In the morning Mrs Roberts gave as some maths. After the maths we got ready to do folk dancing with kea class. We had lots of fun and we are learning some really cool new songs.

When we had finished folk dancing we had morning tea. After morning tea we went to the library.

Our class really love to read books and our teacher enjoys reading us the Hobbit, but she didn't today because we had to go to the library. Well we were at the library, we drank our milk I am glad we have milk at school.

Then we voted for the book contest, there were really cool books. We had to close our eyes so we could not see what our friends chose. It's called blind voting.

Once we did that we packed up to get ready to go to the life education bus.At the life education bus we learnt more about choices.

Harold the  giraffe sang a song about the brain. It was really cool and we also learnt about how to say no in the right way. By the time we had done all that it was lunch time.

After lunch we went to singing and did some Maori. As well as that we looked  at some different dances we were joined by kea class, Pau and kiwi class. After that we walked back to class and did some-more research on what we had learnt in singing.

And then we learnt some stuff on Peru. Jacob who is a student a Plateau school brought in some cool stuff from Peru and told us some fun facts (and he also brought in some Peru money).

After that we did a big tidy up finely its the end of the day and our teacher reads us the hobbit. The hobbit is getting exciting and it's nowhere near like the move. Then the bell rung and it all went quit.

Tuesday 15th may 2014

Today we started the day with the roll.

Then at 9:30 we went to the life education bus and we learnt that if your friend asks you to do something wrong, and you don't want to do it, you look them in the eye and tell them no, they will understand and not do it.

After morning tea time we did some description writing.

Half an hour to go till lunch time so to fill in the time we went to the hall to do some folk dancing,
Everyone enjoyed folk dancing, we went through the song 3 times.

       Lunch time went by.

Today we started with the roll, Mrs Roberts says to us, kei whea... And we will say back to her kei kornei Mrs Roberts.
Here we are taking the roll.
Now we are doing the bus board,

     And the news centre

Once we did all of the jobs, Mrs Roberts searched up Mary Rose the Boat that sunk 500 years ago.

One person asked Mrs Roberts how the boat sank.
The boat sank because the gun holes were left open by accident and the wind got strong so that the water got into the boat and it sunk sideways.

Now we are on to maths, and we are still working on shapes.

10 minutes went by and we were still doing shapes, then Mrs Roberts gave everybody a sheet of paper with some shapes that you have to draw the lines of symmetry.

We did that till morning tea.

After morning tea, we did some writing like we did yesterday. We were learning about what good authors do.

Time to go to the life education bus, here are some pictures

We were learning about what happens to our body when we get stressed.

The bell rung, so we had to go back to class, and get our lunch.

After lunch, Mrs Davidson came in to carry on with the art that we have been doing for the past 8 weeks, we have been making stencils.

It is for an art compotision, that we have entered.

The rest of the class went to the hall for singing!!!

Singing finished, and Mrs Davidson was still doing art.

      20 minutes till home time.

     10 minutes till home time

Monday 12th may 2014

Finally jump jam has started for term 2, we started the day with our two favourite songs, one from Madagascar and one from Shrek 2. Heaps of people got merit points for doing well!

Basic facts time, we are starting with the stage 5's then the stage 6's 7's and 8's, we wonder who will move up!!!

15 minutes till morning tea time, to make the time go by we are working on shapes, and what type of shape they are.

Morning tea finally!!!

Morning tea flew by, now we have to go to the library. It is our third time in the library this term and it looks much better than before, people came to the school in the holidays to make the library bigger and better than ever before.

Now we are choosing some books take home. Today we even had milk in the library, and Mrs Nicol told us not to spill any milk on the carpet. Library time is over, and we are making our way back to class.

Now we are doing language, and we have to explain to a partner why we need gravity, because we did an experiment on two balloons one inside another.
You can see on this picture that there is a circle inside another circle, those
are the balloons, and we found out that, air resistance causes the balloons to go at different speeds.

Lunch time went by, and the bell rang.

Monday is a singing day, so the class went to the hall to do some singing, sasa practise, and do music appreciation

Here are some pictures

And here we are at the hall:

Before we went home our teacher gave us a sign up sheet for enrichment.

Monday has been and gone, see you tomorrow!!!!
