First Aid Day - Thursday 1st August 2013

Today we had our first aid training from the Red Cross. The first thing we did was learn our DRS ABC.

D = Danger
R = Response
S = Send for help

A = Airway
B = Breathing
C = Circulation

Lou, our first aid teacher was very nice but had a bit of a witch's cackle. We are hoping we don't have to include her into one of our recipes! (We are not being rude, she kept doing a witch impersonation).

We all had a pracise putting people into the recovery position and Bradley, much to his surprise, found that he was able to put Mrs. Roberts into it even though she is much bigger than him.

We then talked about broken bones and burns and scalds. We found out how to deal with somebody who was choking and then learnt about how to put on a sling.

In the afternoon we played a game to see who was the fastest group to put the "what to do when somebody was choking" procedure in the right order. The winner got two dollars and a merit point. Well done Ruru room you all worked really hard today and Mrs. R is proud of your efforts. I can now faint quite happily and know that you can fix me up......
